Vinyl Library Welcomes Hotel Guests to Music City
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Music unifies, crossing generations, genders and ethnic groups. It also was the inspiration for a unique visual element FH Design created as the focal artwork in the guest rooms at the Marriott at Vanderbilt.
“Music is a big part of the Nashville culture and vinyl records have had a rebirth,” said Lauren Wood, interior designer with FH Design. “Since both past and present music lovers can relate to vinyl, we decided it would be the perfect backdrop to make everyone feel welcomed to Music City.”
Borrowing from their own record collections, supplemented with new and used vinyl albums from area record stores, the FH Design team compiled a record library to fill a 16-foot-wide wall without repeating. From the Allman Brothers to White Stripes, Tennessee Ernie Ford to the Alabama Shakes, the albums span decades and genres. The records collected were then photographed and the custom wall covering was created.
Each guest room in the Marriott, located adjacent to the Vanderbilt University campus, features a wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling vinyl library. A sophisticated and neutral palette of the guest room highlights the colorful backdrop of the supersized vinyl.
“The vinyl library concept allows us to bring in the Nashville music culture while still remaining casual,” said Wood.
It also reminds hotel guests they are in Music City, and engages them, no matter their age or musical preference.
